Werewolves
Are the beasts that stalk the night. The Lupinus Lunaris, wolves of the moon, hunt for human flesh to feast upon when the moon is full. Those that suffer from the “Bite of Change” are said to suffer from lycanthropy. In modern times werewolves have evolved to be able to change at will. Werewolves are organized into dens. These dens are led by a Lupinus Maximus or Great Wolf. These Great Wolves are chosen through ritual combat of the strongest of the werewolves, the Lukos.
The dens that the werewolves reside in are usually industrial complexes, urban housing projects, abandon mines etc. Wolf dens are much easier to blend into human society, since werewolves are able to maintain their human form at will and can walk about in the sunlight unharmed. Of course with the great wolves being chosen through combat, the dens themselves are in constant conflict with one another.
Each Great Wolf is the strongest Lukos of the den. Controlling the den through force rather than diplomacy. They are to be feared and embody the ultimate werewolf. Great Wolves are rarely seen in conflicts, unless the battle is of great importance.
The rest of the Lukos are the captains or Pack Masters of the werewolf den. Leading the wolf packs into battle against the vampires. The strongest of the Lukos become the “Lupinus Maximus” or Great Wolf of the den chosen through ritual combat. The Lukos are responsible for organizing the packs as needed into raiding parties and assigning all duties to the other squads. They command through strength and intimidation. They are always looking to the day when they might take control of the den themselves as the Great Wolf. They normally carry mementos of their long lives with them.
Lycanus are strong well trained units within the ranks of the werewolves. Through special tactics and training they are the sharpened claws of the werewolf faction. Preferring to use tactics and equipment over muscle, they will normally stay in human form to support the other units in the pack, only changing to wolf form if outmatched in melee. Many vie for the chance to rise from the ranks of Lycanus to become a Lukos. This will ensure them a place of honor within the wolf den.
Wargs also known as Feral Wolves, they are huge wolf like creatures unable to change back to human form ever. These huge beasts are ruthless killers with strong jaws known to bite off limbs. Trapped forever in their “wolfin” form they suffer mild effects of madness, which is channeled into a rage during battle. They are very strong and cunning. Fierce in combat and dealing large amounts of damage from their well clawed “hands”. They can be found walking upright or on all fours.
Canis Militaris are the backbone of the werewolf army. Able to fight as humans or werewolves they are the typical lycanthrope. They take on the brunt of the military duties for the wolf den such as security details, den guardsmen, day raids and many others. Always eager to please their Lukos Pack Master and prove themselves invaluable to the pack, through their fierce deeds in battle.
Wolfkin appear slightly larger than a normal wolf, with darker fur. They are an intelligent, ancient breed of wolf. They are trained to work with the wolf packs as coordinated units. They are revered as sacred. Ancient legends tell that the bite from one of their kind was the original “Bite of Change” making them the progenitors of lycanthropy. Their fur coloration is dark usually black to gray.
